๐Ÿงจ What Happened?


A gunman intentionally started a brush fire and called 911 to lure first responders to the scene. The fire spread over approximately 20 acres.

Shortly after the firefighters arrived, they came under sniper-style gunfire.





๐Ÿ˜ข Casualties:


2 firefighters were killed on the spot


1 firefighter was seriously injured and is currently hospitalized in stable condition






๐Ÿš“ Security Response:


Authorities described the event as a “premeditated ambush”


FBI, SWAT, and ATF teams were deployed to the area


The suspect was found dead at the scene near his weapon


A shelter-in-place order was issued and later lifted in the evening






๐Ÿ—ฃ️ Official Statements:


Sheriff Robert Norris said, “This was a total ambush. The firefighters had no chance to survive.”


Governor Brad Little condemned the attack as a “heinous and cowardly act” and urged people to pray for the victims and their families

The blaze is now identified as the “Nettleton Gulch Fire”


Dense vegetation and rugged terrain made firefighting operations extremely difficult


Fire suppression efforts were temporarily suspended due to the shooter threat

The shooter’s motive remains unclear


Investigators suspect he may have made the 911 call himself


No evidence of any additional suspects has been found
