Police Statement and On-the-Ground Situation


The Los Angeles Police Department reported that they are working to extinguish fires and regain control of the area. Protesters blocked a key roadway, forcing officers to disperse the crowd.


National Guard Deployment


President Donald Trump authorized the use of tear gas and announced the deployment of the National Guard to control the unrest. However, California Governor Gavin Newsom urged the president to reverse the order. Another Democratic governor condemned the action, calling it an "alarming abuse of power."


500 U.S. Marines on Standby


The U.S. Defense Department confirmed that 500 Marines are on standby in case the situation escalates further. Meanwhile, 2,000 members of the California Army National Guard have already been deployed in the city.

Protesters, some carrying Mexican flags, gathered across major streets. In response, law enforcement used tear gas and rubber bullets. On social media, President Trump described the demonstrators as “paid agitators,” without offering evidence.
